INTRODUCTION TO YOGA – For "Yoga Shy Guys"
AGES: 15 years and up
Are you a "yoga shy guy"? I do understand your apprehensions. I sulked to my first yoga class simply to quiet my nagging wife. Once I did, I quickly found athletic yoga to be one of the most functional workouts around. Thru yoga, I experienced lasting relief to my previously chronic back pain and I lost 40 pounds. Yoga alleviates everything from a stiff back to low energy to work-related stress. If your hesitation is that you are NOT FLEXIBLE then all the more reason you should be doing it. Weigh lifting and sports, without stretching, shorten the muscles and pull the skeletal system out of alignment leading to aches and pains. Yoga brings fluid movement back into stiff joints, lengthens muscles and allows you to return to proper skeletal alignment.
In this 4-week beginner series, you will be clearly guided in the safe execution of beginner-friendly, athletic yoga postures. You will increase the range of motion of your joints, and increase the strength and flexibility of your muscles while releasing tensions through the focus on steady, deep breathing. Participants should be able to get up and down from the floor with ease to attend this class. Studio is 72-75 degrees.
All levels and ages of yoga shy-men welcome.
• Come dressed in workout shorts and tee shirt.
• Bring a towel for sweat and a water bottle.
• Do not eat 2-hours prior to class
