| The Yoga Club A therapeutic yoga group for Middle and High School Students with Special Needs Yoga is a beneficial and fun adjunct to traditional PT and OT for teens with special needs due to Autism, Asperger's, ADHD or other diagnosis. Yoga develops increased body awareness, coordination, motor planning, balance, strength, flexibility and concentration. Yoga provides organizing sensory input, teaches effective deep breathing patterns, and is helpful in decreasing feelings of stress. Special needs yoga is a hands-on therapeutic experience that addresses each student's individualized needs in a small group setting (limited to 6 students). Rae Lynn Stackpoole combines her knowledge and experience as an occupational therapist with yoga to facilitate each student's progress. The atmosphere is set to encourage personal challenge, accomplishment, independence, respect and focused fun. Teens "feel great" after this class and are ready to tackle the evening's homework. Yoga develops increased strength, flexibility (range of motion), balance, body awareness, coordination, motor planning, concentration and an overall sense of well-being. Yoga provides organizing sensory input, teaches effective deep breathing patterns, relaxation and decreases feelings of stress. Private Yoga Therapy Sessions are available for children or adults. These sessions are completely individualized and customized to meet your needs and goals. The frequency, length and scheduling of private sessions are also individualized to meet your needs. Rae Lynn Stackpoole, MOT, OTR/L, RYT Rae Lynn is a licensed occupational therapist and registered yoga teacher who has practiced Occupational Therapy full-time in the clinical field of physical rehabilitation with adults and children from 1992 until opening Yoga On York in 2002. In the adult rehabilitation arena, Rae Lynn worked specifically in the areas of orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation. In pediatric special needs therapy, Rae Lynn has worked extensively with children with Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Autism and Sensory Integration Dysfunction. Children's Fees: 45 minute sessions $45. per single session
