Relaxation and Relief.  These are two main reasons why pregnant women from around the Seacoast have sought Amy's healing touch.  With a warm and supporting nature, and a vast array of knowledge and experience, Amy offers her prenatal clients a unique and special massage experience.

The Childbearing Year can be a physical and emotional "roller coaster" from which women need rest and renewal in order to be fully present and comfortable in their new body.  Women receiving massage therapy during this time of dramatic change may experience the following benefits:

  • Increasing circulation for the mother, placenta and baby
  • Increasing mother's energy levels-reducing anemia
  • Decreasing swelling-particularly in legs and feet
  • Stimulating endorphins and reducing stress
  • Reduces stress on major joints and muscle groups-mainly back, hips, legs and feet
  • Increases muscle tone and flexibility

Originally trained at the Boulder College of Massage Therapy, Amy has been in private practice since 2001. She teaches pregnancy massage at a number of area massage schools and offers a variety of continuing education courses and workshops. She also contributed to the creation of The Maternity and Infant Massage Program at the Cortiva Institute where she is an instructor.  Amy is approved to teach continuing education courses through the National Certification Board of Massage Therapy and Bodywork (NCBTMB) and Doulas of North America (DONA).

"I met Amy in the fall of 2006 when I was 2 months pregnant.  It was my first time being pregnant, and I wanted the whole thing to be a very special and wonderful experience (no small task!).   Little did I know that Amy was to play a key role in making that happen. On the practical side, as a caregiver, she was an amazing pre-natal yoga instructor and massage therapist and she literally helped me stay both physically and mentally healthy throughout my entire pregnancy; but on a much deeper level, she kept me focused on my goals as a woman and a mother-to-be through her true love of helping women/couples through the birth experience. Every time I felt like I couldn't do it the way I wanted, Amy would encourage me and remind me that I could!  Her Labor Class answered all my questions and made me feel strong and powerful. I also drew inspiration from her own personal birth plan, which I shared with my labor doctor. I gave birth in May 2007 with a doula from Amy's group, and it truly was the most amazing experience of my life. I loved every minute of my pregnancy & birth, and Amy paved that road for me with her love and energy. I drew so much inspiration and courage from her.  She was put on this earth to nurture women and couples toward a happy and healthy birth!"
