Nia, short for neuromuscular integrative action, is a dynamic and soulful fusion of dance, martial and healing arts. Pure joy-in-motion to fabulous music, Nia uses expressive dance movement and delivers powerful cardiovascular whole-body conditioning to every level of fitness, age and body type. Modern dance, jazz, martial arts and fluid yoga-like movement wrapped into an invigorating experience. Room is neutrally warmed to approximately 75 degrees. About the instructor:
Kristi Scarpone, M.Ed licensed Nia teacher, has been teaching fitness, dance and movement classes for 15 years. Her experience spans from Maine to Colorado with students ranging from pre-natal to pre-school to senior fitness. She combines her love for dance, music and community celebration seasonally with live drumming dance jams.
Professionally, she is an organizational consultant who has raised more than $22 million in the non-profit sector to support missions including social justice, education, human services and international affairs. She is an avid runner and lives in Kittery, Maine with her husband and twin daughters.
