YOGA ON YORK specializes in safe, effective and fun classes. All classes are taught by 200 or 500 hour Registered Yoga Alliance instructors. In all classes, we teach the correct alignment of each posture, encourage you to "listen to your body" and move at your own pace. We are fully available to you to help you modify postures to make them safe for your individual body.

Classes are listed  from most gentle to most vigorous.   Read the descriptions completely so you may accurately choose which classes are right for you. 

beginner - friendly  classes

NEW TO YOGA? Start with YOGA FOUNDATIONS or YOGA CHALLENGE I, and then move on to VINYASA SLOW FLOW. Classes are listed in descending order from our most gentle class, YOGA FOUNDATIONS to our most vigorous classes, such as; VINYASA FLOW INTERMEDIATE, POWER FLOW and YOGA CORE.

YOGA FOUNDATIONS 
A gentle class in which to stretch, strengthen and relax your body and mind for increased health. The foundations of yoga postures and full breath are taught in this class. You will be expertly guided in the proper execution of each yoga posture to build a strong base of understanding for a safe, effective yoga practice. Great for those new to yoga, those with mild injuries, and those preferring a less vigorous class. (You need to be able to get up and down form the floor with some degree of ease for this class.)
Studio is 72-75 degrees. [All levels]

YOGA CHALLENGE I www.tonysanchezyoga.com
Despite its name, this is a beginner-friendly, athletic yoga class. This class is an especially good choice for those with shoulder or wrist issues, as the class does not include weight bearing poses for the upper body or Sun Salutations. Build your strength, flexibility, balance, and focus. All postures can be easily modified to accommodate prior injury or pregnancy. A great class for the beginner to the advanced student. VINYASA SLOW FLOW
Our most vigorous, beginner-friendly yoga class that gets you moving with the flow of your breath. This introductory flow yoga class provides detailed instruction and demonstration to teach the Sun Salutations sequence and the Ujjayi breath-to-movement flow of the Ashtanga lineage. A wide variety of standing and floor postures are also taught with attention to proper execution and alignment. You will develop increased strength, stamina and flexibility.
Studio is 80-85 degrees. [All levels]

PILATES FUSION
This beginner-friendly core class includes a dynamic fusion of traditional pilates exercises and yoga postures. The result is a targeted and effective strengthening combined with the lengthening elixer of yoga. A unique mix of both YOGA and PILATES in one energizing workout, taught by Melissa , Senior Stott Pilates Instructor and 500hr. yoga instructor.
Studio is 80-85 degrees. [All levels]

MENS YOGA
By popular request, this class is for men only and taught by Jeff. This beginner-friendly class is a combination of Yoga Foundations, Yoga Challenge and Vinyasa Slow Flow.

intermediate -  advanced  level  classes

These classes build upon the foundational knowledge taught in the beginner-friendly classes and are not intended for those new to yoga. These classes flow at a faster pace and are great for individuals who enjoy a vigorous, sweaty and mindful workout.

VINYASA FLOW INTERMEDIATE
This vigorous flowing class builds onto the foundational skills taught in Vinyasa Slow Flow. A varied flow of Sun Salutations from the Ashtanga lineage and challenging posture sequences are coordinated with the Ujjayi breath to build stamina, strength, flexibility and unite mind-body-Spirit in a focused "moving meditation". You will leave sweaty, invigorated and centered. Studio is 80-85 degrees. [Prerequisite: For those already comfortable with the Sun Salutes, taught in the Vinyasa Slow Flow classes; not intended for students new to yoga.]

POWER FLOW
This class further builds on the strength, flexibility and endurance challenges of the Vinyasa Flow Intermediate class. A variety of frequent arm balances keep the energy level high. Inversions are explored. Challenge yourself to go deeper into your breath-to-movement flow and maintain your equanimity while mindfully challenging your personal edge. Sculpt your body, quiet your mind and energize your spirit. Studio is 80-85 degrees. [Prerequisite:: For those already comfortable with Vinyasa Flow Intermediate or Ashtanga; not intended for students new to yoga.

YOGA CORE
This vigorous fitness class is brimming with intense core strengthening exercises for abdominals, back, gluts, and thighs. The class utilizes interval training mixing high intensity bursts of exercise with moderate intensity recovery periods to supercharge your fitness. Yoga postures are incorporated throughout to re-lengthen the core muscles after strengthening. The result is a unique, effective body sculpting class intelligently crafted by Jeff.

PRENATAL YOGA
Prenatal yoga offers expectant mothers a haven of peace and inspiration from which they can connect most fully with their pregnant bodies and growing baby with-in. The yoga postures are thoughtfully chosen to promote vibrant prenatal health and strength. You will experience the benefits of yoga for relief of common pregnancy-related discomforts as well as poses for the labor and birth process. All stages of pregnancy are welcome.  Receive your physician's or midwife's verbal "ok" to exercise prior to coming to your first class. This class is taught by Amy Hopkins and held at GLOW (right next door to Yoga On York).  Contact amy@glowbodywork.com to register for the class.  

POSTNATAL YOGA FOR MOMS AND BABIES
A wonderful way to recondition your body after pregnancy and have baby right along side. Class focuses on strengthening, re-conditioning and stress releasing yoga postures for mom and is followed by infant massage for babies.
